Our beautiful country is located in Central Europe bordering Belgium to the west, Germany to the northeast, France to the south and southeast, only a couple hours from Frankfurt, Bruxelles and Paris.
Geography …
Green is the dominant colour and there are many woods and forests in Luxembourg that cover more than half the territory. With a size of 2600 square kilometers, Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe.
Demography …
We have a population of more than 650.000 almost half of which are foreigners. Luxembourg is a founding member of the European Union and hosts many of its institutions, many of which are very close to the competition hall.

The climate in Luxembourg is moderately continental with cold winters and mild summers, what means that we expect nice weather during the Acrobatic Gymnastics Europeans in April.
Luxembourg joined the Eurozone at its creation in 1999 and has used the euro as its official currency ever since.
Democracy & Languages …
As a representative democracy and a constitutional monarchy, it is headed by Grand Duke Henri. Its capital and largest city is Luxembourg with close to 130.000 inhabitants.
Luxembourgish is our language and one of the three official languages alongside French and German. Most Luxembourgers have a good command of English as well and you will hear a lot of Portuguese and many other languages while walking or traveling around.
Luxembourg-City – an ideal host city
With close to 130.000 inhabitants, the capital is the political, administrative, economic and cultural centre of Luxembourg. It is also one of the de facto capitals of the European Union, alongside Brussels and Strasbourg and hosts among others the European Court of Justice, the European Investment Bank, the Secretariat of the European Parliament.
Visitors will appreciate the numerous parks and recreational areas in the city, the various museums, as well as the old town and the historic quarter; the city of Luxembourg with its old fortifications was declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1994. Being a small, easily navigable city with a green soul and modern sports facilities, Luxembourg is the ideal place for hosting major sports events.
